That is the cutest question I ever answered! I don't know what they use them for but I do know that they are born with it, it is just small and it starts growing when they are about 15, very much like puberty except that they call it unicoberty! =)

How old are unicorns when they first begin growing their horns, and what do they use them for?
The horns start growing at about age 3 and when mature, the unicorn uses the horn to capture and kill humans, their favorite food.
That's why there has never been a report of a human seeing a unicorn. The human was eaten after being skewered.

Reply:They would grow like other horned animals after birth.
Mythically it could only be tamed by a virgin and the horn neutralised poison.
Reply:calves start right away so I'm guessing unicorns do too.
