It's 4/9/08 and we're still seeing bucks with horns. Why haven't they lost them yet?

My husband and I have been shed hunting for about 3 weeks and we have found some horns; some real small and some medium, however, we still see quite a few bucks with horns on them still.

Maybe it's Global Warming. Just kidding.
Reply:down here they are starting to grow back already (GA)

so maybe your seeing them in velvet

lol! Southern, i dont even know who i am anymore o.O
Reply:some bucks depending on the nutrition will lose them early or later than others
Reply:buck is right. or obama who ever he is. lol

They are growing them already.

Many of the bucks have velvet covered antlers about 3"-4" now. Some even larger.

It is only about 4 weeks from the time they shed until the time you notice the new antlers.

If you see a deer with hard bone antler is has some kind of defect. I have seen wild deer that have had their antlers year round and all of them had problems. One had both male and female parts.
