Many people I have talked to complained that their flower horns were sterile. Possibly because of the fact that they are hybrids (the actually combination is a closely guarded secret). They are not really very popular now but near the end of the craze, there were reports that the flowerhorns were breeding.
They behave like regular cichlids. You just need a nice big tank. Some flat rocks for the eggs and a pair of fish. Should be easy to indentify since the differences between the males and females are so obvious.
The parents do a good job of tending to the eggs and fry. Just make sure the water quality is good and it is well oxygenated. Once they are hatched, the parents will even chomp up the food into smaller piecer for the fry to eat. Once the fry are fswimming well, you may take them out into their own tank.

How do you breed flower horns?
First,you find out what two species the guys in Singapore who sell these ugly hybrids use to cross. Then you raise these to adulthood. Then you learn about the sorts of hormones that are required to induce the two different species to spawn. None of this will be easy or cheap. Are you sure there are no naturally occurring fish that you would find attractive?
