Does airplanes have horns?

no they don%26#039;t (mostly) but in fact they have a system which lets them know that it will collide with another plane if they don%26#039;t change directions. it alerts them to change elevations so that they will avoid each other.

Does airplanes have horns?
Yes, many airliners DO have a horn just like a car. It is called a %26#039;ground call%26#039; horn and it signals the ground crew for attention. Report It

Reply:No, airplanes having horns is a total urban myth. I%26#039;ve been flying for over 15 years and I can tell you that although they have radio communication with the ground staff and control tower there is nothing on board that emits a loud external noise to give a signal, warning or otherwise. Report It

Reply:No but some animals do have horns
Reply:the horn is located right next to the directional signals on most aircraft. some of the newer planes have a string that you pill to activate the air horn and it is connected just below the rear view mirror.
Reply:No, they make enough noise for a person to know an airplane is approaching the area.
Reply:...not many, but a few do! See:

Reply:No, they have a big flashing light on the sides of the wings. Good thought, though.
Reply:Do airplanes have horns?

No they don%26#039;t.
Reply:As a matter of fact some do.

They are referred to as cowhorns and their function is to increase aerodynamic efficiency by reducing the amount of air that would otherwise slide of the wingtips. This increased efficiency in turn means that the same speed can be achieved but with less engine power thus saving fuel. If you look at most modern passenger jets, private jets and military cargo jets, you will see that the wingtips are inclined upwards. This resembles the way a cow%26#039;s horns turn up hence the name.
Reply:yes, they do have horns. in fact when they hit the horn button on their chrome plated chain steering wheel the horn will play the song %26quot;dixie%26quot;
Reply:No, radar and radio. Cute question......
Reply:what a cute question. I am not sure too. i guess there is no horns?
Reply:I believe they grow antlers during mating season but they shed thease every year.
Reply:All the Boeing airliners I%26#039;ve ever worked on have a ground call horn, used by the flight crew (while the airplane is on the ground) to get someone on the ground to plug in their headset and talk to the crew. It%26#039;s a small pushbutton in the cockpit that sounds what%26#039;s basically a car horn in the nose landing gear wheel well. Not a %26#039;horn%26#039; in the automotive sense.
Reply:yep! air horns!
Reply:I%26#039;v heard that small rotary engine aircraft like the Piper Cub or Cessna C-172 have a horn on the outside that sounds when you exceed the aircrafts angle of attack limit. The purpose is when you hear that horn, you will soon stall eithe your wings or engine and the last thing to go through your mind will be your horizontal situation indicator.
