Why do people always associate the devil with a scary dude with horns and a poker thing???

When everything I have read tells us that (if there is such a thing) that the Devil is actually quite attractive. Is this just another one of the catholic church%26#039;s tricks???

Reply:Because he is as scary as the things you have described and everything said about him is as bad as that ...he really likes that ....and he could be more evil by changing his colours too ...


Movies make us see him as a scary dude with horns , carrying a back pack of spears, barefooted and wears black...so its a make believe kinda thing !!thats the image we all associate him with...always in Dark corners ....
Reply:I read that the Catholic Church wanted the devil depicted as hideous(in churches and cathedrals, etc) because it was believed that his great sin was the sin of pride. By depicting him in a grotesque way, it was mocking him.
Reply:Actually, I don%26#039;t associate the devil with a red, reptillian dude. I see him as someone who appears as good, acts subtly, is calculating, and finds ways to fool someone.





A red ugly horned creature could not do that. That may be the image we get when we imagine him revealing himself, but that%26#039;s not what he or his minions look like when they move about on Earth?

The bible does say that satan, aka lucifer..is very beautiful, and often masquerades as an angel of light...the idea of him as a horned monster..well as cute as the caricature is..it is misleading, and just not true...

Reply:I do believe the Bible says satan was the most beautiful Angel in all of heaven. If you have seen the movie shollow Hal I think you will understand the concept. Satan is outwardly beautiful, but inwardly he is red with horns and that poker thing. Thats why he is so deceiving to us, it looks innocent and trustworthy but it is a destroyer.
Reply:I believe they styled him after the Greek God pan who was half man half goat.





In some of the older representations of Pan he does indeed look rather scary.

Reply:he changes his appearance. You know, he is someone that deceives and lies to people,and wants to bring as many people as he can down to hell with him. that%26#039;s why he is described as the scary dude with horns. It seems like he%26#039;s done his job and deceived a lot of people on here.
