French Horns?????

Experienced French Horn Players Only, Please??

Experienced French Horn Players only, please?

I am going into high school and would like to know what French Horn I should Use. I have been playing three years and would like a good quality horn that will last through high school, college and later on. I am looking for something good quality with warm dark tones that will really stand out, but preferably not too expensive. If you have any suggestions, I would love to know. Thanks!!

French Horns?????
Here are a few options. Really, you and your teacher need to play them, and see which one feels best for you.

Yamaha 667v, Conn 8D, Atkinson A800 are all good horns that will surely take you through college playing. They also won't set your folks back to far money-wise. (just do searches for them, lots of sites sell them, or to ebay, or the factory itself). If they have $6-$10k to spend, then go for a Paxman, Alexander, Lawson, Lewis or Berg.

These are harder to find online, but if you contact Wichita Band company, they'll get you in the right direction. Actually, I really recommend them for buying a horn. They're really smart, and run a good business.

Like I said, play them before you buy them, if its at all possible. Let me know if ya need anything else!
Reply:my whole band uses Conn 8D
Reply:I'm a big fan of the Conn 8D
