Is it legal to mount a train horn on your car?

Train horns are sold on Ebay, and people put them on their cars, but will you get pulled over if you blast the horn on the street?

Is it legal to mount a train horn on your car?
You can mount it anywhere, using it is something all together different! Call you local DMV office and ask the laws regarding how load a horn can be.
Reply:the only train horn i ever saw used over 30 cubic feet per min. of compressed air @ 150 lbs. good luck getting it to work.
Reply:No it's not illegal to have them on your car, but it is probably illegal to go down the street honking it...can you say noise complaint.
Reply:hey what the po po dont know wont hurt em, you can pretty much get away with anything on a car as long as you are smart about it and creative enough to hide it.

and yes the decibal level is way too high on a train horn for it to be street legal, but that doesnt stop anyone from doing it
Reply:my buddy had one on his car and we used it all the time. it was hilarious. we never got pulled over but im sure its legal all u have to do is say that a train horn was easier to install than a regular horn and u should be good.
Reply:I'm sure it is in some states
