Many helicopters have sirens (they sound like a car alarm chirp) to warn people when they are about to start and to get dumbass people away from the helipad when they are landing.

I%26#039;ve also seen sirens installed on bird dog aircraft that guide water bombers.

Also there are these:

They are venturis, but make for interesting conversation for the unsavy.

Air traffic control keep aircraft away from each other.

I don%26#039;t think other aircraft would be able to hear a horn.
Reply:No. You wouldn%26#039;t hear it over the noise in the aircraft any way.

But military aircraft do have other ways of announcing their presence. Tracer rounds, air-to-air missiles, guided ordnance, etc. It generally gets the attention of whoever they want to notify.
Reply:At 500mph a horn is not much use !
Reply:Yes, this is the reason for the big lump on top of the 747.

The sound is something like the mating call of the lesser spotted avocet.
Reply:no, they use flashing strobe lights...
Reply:Yes, and all this time you thought it was just geese flying over honking.................lol
